Blended Scotch

Blended Scotch is made by combining malt whiskies (made from barley in pot stills) with grain whiskies (usually made from other grains in column stills). This marriage of styles creates a smooth, versatile, and highly approachable spirit. While some blends are light, sweet, and grassy, others carry deep notes of dried fruit, vanilla, and peat smoke. The taste varies mostly depending on the ratio of malt to grain and the specific distilleries involved in the recipe.

When choosing a bottle, look at the age statement; if it says twelve years, every drop inside has aged for at least that long. However, many excellent blends are non-age-statement, focusing instead on a consistent house style. Blended Scotch is exceptionally versatile. Enjoy it neat or on the rocks, or use it as a reliable base for classic cocktails like a Highball or a Penicillin, paired with smoked meats or rich cheeses.
