Moonshine

Moonshine is essentially unaged whiskey, bottled straight from the still without spending time in oak barrels. Because it misses out on the wood aging process, you get to taste the raw character of the grains. Traditionally made from corn, it has a distinct, sweet corn-meal flavor, though some distillers use barley, rye, or wheat. The taste varies wildly across the category, ranging from clean, fiery, and vodka-like to rich, buttery, and deeply grain-forward.

When choosing a bottle, look closely at the label. High-proof, traditional corn whiskeys offer a punchy, authentic experience, while lower-proof, flavored moonshines infused with fruit or spices are much sweeter and easier to sip. Moonshine is incredibly versatile. Enjoy it neat or over ice to appreciate the raw spirit, or use it as a robust base for cocktails like highballs, whiskey sours, or even a punchy twist on a bloody mary.
