Chardonnay

Chardonnay is the world's most famous white wine grape, known for its incredible versatility. Because the grape itself has a relatively neutral flavor profile, it acts like a canvas for the winemaker. In cooler climates, it tastes of green apples and citrus, while warmer regions produce richer flavors of peach, pineapple, and vanilla.

The biggest decision when choosing a Chardonnay is whether you want it oaked or unoaked. Unoaked versions, sometimes labeled as "Chablis" or "naked," are crisp, bright, and refreshing, making them perfect for fresh seafood or goat cheese. Oaked Chardonnays undergo aging in wooden barrels, which gives them a creamy, buttery texture and toasted notes. These richer styles pair beautifully with roasted chicken, buttery pasta dishes, or a cozy evening by the fire.
