Prosecco is Italy’s famous sparkling wine, crafted primarily from the Glera grape in the northeast of the country. Unlike Champagne, it is fermented in large tanks, which preserves the fresh, vibrant fruit flavors of the grapes. You can expect bright notes of green apple, pear, honeysuckle, and melon, backed by a light, frothy fizz.\n\nWhen choosing a bottle, look at the label for sweetness levels. "Brut" is the driest style, while "Extra Dry" is actually slightly sweeter, and "Dry" is sweeter still. For higher quality, look for "DOCG" on the neck, which indicates wines from the historic hillside vineyards of Conegliano Valdobbiadene.
