Founded by T. William 'Bill' Samuels Sr. and his wife Margie in 1953, Maker's Mark revolutionized the bourbon industry by substituting red winter wheat for rye to eliminate the harsh bite. Margie Samuels is credited with creating the iconic bottle shape, the hand-dipped red wax seal, and the distinctive label design.
Distilled in Loretto, Kentucky, Maker's Mark is cooked in a traditional copper pot still and aged in charred new American oak barrels. The distillery rotates every single barrel by hand to ensure consistent aging and exposure to the climate of the rickhouse.
