The Van Winkle family whiskey tradition began in the late 19th century with Julian P. 'Pappy' Van Winkle Sr., who built his reputation on the motto 'we make fine bourbon, at a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but always fine bourbon.' Today, the brand is managed by Julian Van Winkle III, keeping the family's meticulous standard of quality alive across generations.
This bourbon is crafted using the legendary Van Winkle wheated mash bill, replacing the traditional rye grain with wheat for a softer palate. It is distilled at the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky and aged in hand-selected new charred American oak barrels.
