Basil Hayden was introduced in 1992 by Booker Noe, the grandson of Jim Beam, as part of the distillery's Small Batch Collection. The brand was envisioned as a premium, approachable bourbon that honors the historic 1796 high-rye recipe of its namesake pioneer.
Crafted at the historic Jim Beam distillery & rickhouse in Clermont, Kentucky, this bourbon utilizes a high-rye mash bill designed to offer a unique spice character. It pays homage to Master Distiller Basil Hayden Sr., who pioneered the high-rye recipe back in 1796.
