Stella Artois trace its origins back to the Den Hoorn brewery founded in 1366 in Leuven, Belgium. Sebastian Artois was admitted to the Leuven Brewer's Guild as a master brewer in 1708 and purchased the brewery in 1717, renaming it after himself.
