The story behind it
Originally established in 1886 by Josephine Tychson, the first female winemaker in Napa Valley, the estate was later renamed Freemark Abbey in 1939 by a partnership of three businessmen. Today, the winery remains a benchmark producer of classic, estate-driven Napa Valley wines.
Freemark Abbey is one of Napa Valley's most historic wineries, with a legacy of winemaking that dates back to the late 19th century. Located in Rutherford, it achieved international acclaim as one of the few wineries represented in the historic 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting.
