The story behind it
Founded in 1902 by Italian immigrant Nicola Catena, Bodega Catena Zapata pioneered the resurgence of high-altitude Malbec in Argentina. Nicolas Catena Zapata and his daughter Laura have spent decades mapping Mendoza's microclimates, establishing the winery as one of the world's most critically acclaimed estates.
Sourced from the historic La Consulta district in the southern Uco Valley, where high-altitude vineyards experience intense sunlight and cool alpine nights. This terroir yields grapes with exceptional phenolic ripeness, dark color, and a structural acid backbone typical of the region.
