The story behind it
Blue Moon Brewing Company was founded by head brewmaster Keith Villa, who earned his PhD in brewing from the University of Brussels. He aimed to craft beers that would introduce American consumers to Belgian-style craft brewing, leading to the creation of their iconic unfiltered wheat ale.
First crafted in 1995 at the SandLot Brewery inside Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, this beer was inspired by classic Belgian witbiers. The head brewmaster utilized unique ingredients like Valencia orange peel instead of traditional tart Curaçao orange peel to create a subtler, sweeter citrus profile.
