The story behind it
Goose Island Beer Company was founded in Chicago in 1988 by John Hall, who was inspired by the diverse and historic beer styles of Europe. The brewery quickly became a craft pioneer, pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing with innovative wood-aged programs.
First brewed in 1992 to celebrate the brewery's 1000th batch, Bourbon County Stout pioneered the modern barrel-aging movement in the American craft brewing industry. The liquid undergoes months of patient maturation inside hand-selected bourbon barrels inside the brewery's Chicago rickhouses.
