Founded by T. William 'Bill' Samuels Sr. and his wife Margie in Loretto, Kentucky in 1953, Maker's Mark revolutionized the bourbon industry by replacing rye with red winter wheat for a gentler taste. Margie Samuels famously designed the iconic bottle shape, created the hand-dipped red wax seal, and coined the name Maker's Mark.
Crafted at the historic Star Hill Farm, this expression begins as standard Maker's Mark before undergoing a unique secondary maturation. Ten seared French oak staves (Profile No. 46) are inserted into the barrel for several weeks to pull out bold, caramelized wood flavors.
