J&B (Justerini & Brooks) was founded in London in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini, an Italian who came to England for love and brought along his distilling recipes. In 1831, Alfred Brooks bought the firm, renaming it Justerini & Brooks, and created the J&B Rare blend in the 1930s specifically to appeal to the American palate.
The heart of J&B Rare is built around Speyside malt whiskies, which are prized for their fruity and fresh characteristics. These whiskies are blended and matured at the distillery & production estate to create its signature pale color and exceptionally light body.
