Ardbeg was established in 1815 by John McDougall and quickly gained renown for its intensely peated single malts. After falling on hard times in the late 20th century, the distillery was rescued by Glenmorangie in 1997, reviving its status as a masterpiece of Islay distilling.
Deep on the south coast of Islay, the Ardbeg distillery & rickhouse has stood since 1815, surviving multiple closures to become a cult legend. This bottling is non-chill filtered to retain maximum complexity and mouthfeel from the spirit's interaction with ex-bourbon casks.
