Founded by George Smith in 1824, The Glenlivet has long been known as the single malt that started it all. Smith famously defended his distillery from competitors with a pair of hair-trigger pistols, securing his place as a pioneer of Speyside single malt whisky.
Deep in the valley of the River Livet, this distillery was the first licensed distillery in the parish of Glenlivet. Using mineral-rich water from Josie's Well, the distillers employ lantern-shaped copper pot stills to create their light, elegant spirit.
