The story behind it
Amstel was established by commercial partners Charles de Pesters and Johannes van Marwijk Kooy to produce high-quality Bavarian-style lager. Known as the beer drinker's light beer, it has been crafted to deliver genuine European import character since its introduction to the United States in 1980.
Amstel Light is brewed by the historic Amstel Brewery, which was founded in Amsterdam in 1870 and named after the Amstel River. The brand was acquired by Heineken in 1968, ensuring its traditional European brewing standards were preserved for global markets.
