The story behind it
Founders Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers in Michigan. Famous for their "Brewed for Us" philosophy, they weathered early financial struggles by committing to complex, high-gravity beers, ultimately creating some of the world's most sought-after barrel-aged stouts.
Brewed in Grand Rapids, the brewery & brewhouse utilizes deep underground caves for year-round temperature control during the barrel-aging process. This patient maturation in bourbon barrels allows the complex malt sugars to mellow and integrate with the charred wood.
