The maker
Melly Cardenas established the brand with a vision of creating a reposado that tastes like agave, rather than wood. The production facility is notable for being operated by an all-female staff, defying long-standing industry norms in the highlands of Jalisco.
How it is made
La Gritona is produced at the Tequileria de Arandas distillery under the watchful eye of Melly Cardenas, one of the few female master distillers in Jalisco. The agave is cooked in traditional brick ovens and aged for precisely eight months in reused American whiskey barrels.
