The story behind it
The maker
La Gritona was founded by master distiller Melly Barajas, who operates one of the few distilleries run by an all-female team in Jalisco. Her mission was to create an authentic, highland tequila that honors traditional techniques and avoids the use of artificial additives.
How it is made
This tequila is produced at the Tequilera de Arandas distillery & production estate in the highlands of Jalisco. The agave is cooked in traditional brick ovens for 24 hours and rested in reused American whiskey barrels for exactly eight months.
