Founded in 1885, Stanislao Cobianchi named his creation 'Amaro Montenegro' to honor Princess Elena of Montenegro on the occasion of her marriage to King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. The iconic bottle shape was custom-designed by Cobianchi himself, resembling an alchemist's vial, and has remained unchanged for over a century.
Developed in Bologna, Italy, in 1885 by the rebellious herbalist Stanislao Cobianchi, this amaro is produced through a meticulous process of boiling, macerating, and distilling forty different botanicals. The complex liquid is crowned by the 'Il Premio', a micro-distilled essence that unites the entire botanical blend.
