Aperol was introduced at the Padua International Fair in 1919 by Silvio and Luigi Barbieri. By the 1950s, the signature Aperol Spritz recipe was born, catapulting the brand from a local specialty into an international symbol of Italian lifestyle and social ritual.
Created in Padua by the Barbieri brothers, Aperol was perfected after seven years of dedicated experimentation. The recipe remains a closely guarded secret, utilizing an infusion of bitter and sweet oranges, rhubarb, and select botanicals.
