The brand is named in honor of Reverend Elijah Craig, the legendary minister who is widely credited as the father of Bourbon after pioneering the aging of spirits in charred oak barrels. Today, Heaven Hill Distillery, founded in 1935 by the Shapira family, continues his legacy of craftsmanship in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Elijah Craig Straight Rye is produced by Heaven Hill Distillery using a traditional Kentucky rye mash bill. The spirit is aged in charred new American oak barrels within historic brick-and-wood rickhouses to develop its deep color and rich, rounded complexity.
