In 1874, bartender Martin Wilkes Heron perfected his recipe for a smooth, fruit-and-spice-infused whiskey alternative in New Orleans. Known originally as 'Cuffs and Buttons', Southern Comfort became synonymous with Southern hospitality and easy-drinking charm, eventually joining the Sazerac Company portfolio in 2016.
