Founded in 1987 by Thomas E. Bulleit Jr., the brand was created to revive a high-rye bourbon recipe originally developed by his great-great-grandfather, Augustus Bulleit, in the 1830s. Augustus disappeared while transporting his whiskey in 1860, and his legacy remained dormant until Tom left his law career to share it with the world.
Crafted at the historic Bulleit Distilling Co. in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, using pure limestone-filtered water. The high-rye mash bill is fermented with a proprietary yeast strain to ensure its signature spice-forward profile.
