In 1992, legendary Master Distiller Booker Noe introduced Basil Hayden's as part of the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection, paying homage to the historic 1796 high-rye recipe. Booker sought to create a lighter, more approachable bourbon that highlighted the elegant spice of rye without the traditional heavy wood burn.
Crafted at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, this bourbon utilizes a unique high-rye recipe inspired by master distiller Meredith Basil Hayden Sr. back in 1796. The expression is artfully blended and bottled at a delicate 80 proof to preserve its remarkably smooth and spicy character.
