Running a Liquor Store
Liquor Store Shelf Talkers: How to Make and Print Them
A shopper stands in the aisle holding a bottle they have never tried. Your staff are busy at the register. A good shelf talker answers the question before it is asked: what does this taste like, what do I serve with it, and is it any good? This guide shows how to turn your POS list into printed shelf talkers, and which of our nine designs to use where. To see them all drawn with real bottles, open the shelf talkers page.
What a smart shelf talker carries
A normal price tag gives a name and a price. A smart shelf talker adds:
- A tasting description of two or three lines, written from the bottle's product record.
- Flavour notes and food pairings, or a "best enjoyed" line for spirits.
- A verified critic score with its source. A score medallion prints only when a bottle has a verified score of 89 or higher, and nothing is guessed.
- Your price, a sale price when you set one, and your mix-and-match promotion.
- A QR code that opens a page for that exact bottle on the shopper's phone.
The workflow in four steps
- Upload your POS export. Export your product list as a CSV and upload it. You do not retype bottle names.
- Profiles fill in. Each bottle is matched by its barcode and gets a description, flavour notes, pairings and a score where one is verified.
- Check the upload report. It lists new arrivals, price changes and discontinued items, so you reprint only what changed.
- Pick a design and print. Choose the design for each shelf, select the bottles and print on your own printer.
Nine designs, and where each one fits
Aisle cards
These are bigger cards for shelves, endcaps and displays.
- Signature (3 × 4 in): the all-round card with the store name, price, description, flavour notes, QR code and a score medallion at 89 or above. A good default for every shelf.
- Signature 6-up: the same card with a larger pairings box, six to a Letter page, which makes it quick to print a whole category.
- Square Ivory (4 × 3.5 in): a light landscape card with a department colour ribbon and the bottle photo. It uses the least ink.
- Square Vault (4 × 3.5 in): the same card in a full colour block with the bottle in an arch window. The boldest option for premium shelves.
- Classic (3 × 4 in): the original text-led card, kept for stores that prefer it.
Shelf-edge labels
- Standard price tag (2.5 × 1.25 in): a compact label for price rails, with the name, size, price and QR code.
- Brother QL-800 roll (2.4 × 1.25 in): a black-and-white thermal label with a large QR code, the price and a scannable barcode. It needs no ink, so you can print a new tag the moment a price changes.
Display pages
- Kiosk page: a full page for one bottle that reads like the kiosk screen, with photo, price, story, taste profile, pairings and cocktails.
- Editorial page: a cream page with the bottle centred between two serif columns, in the style of a winery's own website.
Both display pages come in Letter or Legal, in colour or black and white to save ink. They suit a wine wall, an endcap or a tasting table.

From the shelf to the phone
When a shopper scans the QR code they open a page for that bottle with tasting notes, pairings and similar bottles. They can then ask the AI sommelier a question, and it recommends only bottles your store carries. If you want the same experience on a screen in the store, see the in-store kiosk and its live demo.
Try it on your own list
You can test the whole flow on your own products. Sign up, upload a list and print up to 25 items free, with no credit card needed. See the pricing and plans page to get started, or browse more setup articles in the Help Center.
