The maker
Pepperidge Farm was founded in 1937 by Margaret Rudkin, an enterprising mother who began baking preservative-free stone-ground wheat bread in her Connecticut kitchen. The famous smiling Goldfish cracker was later introduced in 1962, inspired by a Swiss snack shape.
