The story behind it
Goose Island was founded in Chicago in 1988 by John Hall, who was inspired by the diverse beer cultures of Europe. In 1992, the brewery pioneered the barrel-aging process by creating the very first Bourbon County Stout to celebrate their 1,000th batch of beer.
Originating in Chicago, this masterpiece is aged in freshly emptied bourbon casks from legendary distilleries. The beer matures in the brewery and brewhouse aging cellars where temperature fluctuations pull the rich bourbon characteristics deep from the oak staves.
