Founded in 2012 by Justin Heilenbach, Bryan Holmes, and Kris Nelson in Burlington, Vermont, Citizen Cider began as a small-scale operation to showcase the diverse apple varieties of the region. Today, the brewery collaborates directly with local orchardists to source every apple, ensuring a sustainable and authentic farm-to-can process.
Citizen Cider was founded with a mission to bring cider back to its traditional, community-focused roots. Every batch is fermented and packaged in Burlington, Vermont, using only whole, fresh-pressed local apples.
