The story behind it
Spencer was founded by the Trappist monks of St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts, who officially launched their brewery in 2013 after training in Belgium. Although the abbey ceased commercial brewing operations in 2022, their beers remain landmark creations in the history of American craft brewing.
Brewed by the monks of St. Joseph's Abbey, Spencer Beer represented the first certified Trappist brewery outside of Europe. Inspired by traditional Belgian monastic brewing, each recipe was crafted to support the abbey's community and charitable missions.
