The story behind it
Harpoon Brewery was founded in Boston in 1986 by Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary with a vision to bring great craft beer to the East Coast. Over the decades, Harpoon has grown into one of the country's most respected craft breweries, famously becoming employee-owned in 2014.
Harpoon IPA was first brewed in 1993, at a time when IPAs were highly uncommon on the East Coast. Crafted in their Boston brewhouse, this beer went on to define the classic New England style of IPA, balancing robust hop character with a smooth malt profile.
