The story behind it
The brand was founded in Monterrey, Mexico, by Wilhelm Hasse, a German immigrant who established the Moctezuma Brewery. Originally named 'Siglo XX' to commemorate the upcoming 20th century, the name eventually evolved into 'Dos Equis' to represent the two iconic 'X' characters on the label.
Brewed in Mexico since 1897, Dos Equis Amber Especial was originally created by a German brewmaster who wished to celebrate the arrival of the twentieth century. It is crafted in the traditional Vienna-style lager method using roasted malts and pure water.
