The story behind it

The maker

Rogue Ales was founded in Ashland, Oregon, in 1988 by Jack Joyce, Rob Strasser, and Bob Woodell. The brewery relocated to Newport in 1989 and has grown into an iconic pioneer of the American craft beer movement, renowned for its farm-to-glass approach and creative recipes.

How it is made

Dead Guy Ale was originally brewed in the early 1990s as a celebratory tap beer for Portland's Casa U-Betcha restaurant during Day of the Dead. It has since become a legendary Oregon craft staple, famous for using Rogue's proprietary Pacman yeast in a classic German-style Maibock.
