The story behind it

The maker

Founded officially by John Macdougall in 1815, Ardbeg faced several closures during the 20th century before being triumphantly revived in 1997. Today, it is celebrated worldwide by a passionate cult following known as the Ardbeg Committee for its uncompromisingly peated whiskies.

How it is made

Deep on the shores of Islay, the Ardbeg distillery & rickhouse has been harnessing the untamed, peaty waters of Loch Uigeadail since 1815. Known for using a purifier on their still, they achieve an unmatched harmony of heavy smoke and delicate floral fruitiness.
