The story behind it
The maker
La Gritona was founded by Melly Barajas Cardenas, one of the few female master distillers in the tequila industry. Operating in the highlands of Jalisco, her distillery is notable for employing an all-female staff to manage the distillation and bottling processes, preserving artisanal methods.
How it is made
This tequila is produced at the Tequilas de Señor distillery in Jesus Maria, Jalisco, utilizing traditional brick ovens to cook the mature agave. Unlike many modern distilleries, the juice is naturally fermented in open steel vats before undergoing a double distillation process.
