The story behind it
Goose Island Beer Company was founded in Chicago in 1988 by John Hall, who was inspired by the diverse beer culture of Europe. Under the guidance of pioneering brewers, the company grew from a single brewpub into a global standard-bearer for craft brewing, renowned for its innovative barrel-aging program.
First brewed in 1992 to celebrate the 1000th batch at the original Clybourn brewpub, this beer pioneered the modern barrel-aging movement. Aged inside a historic timber brewhouse cellar, the stout absorbs complex oak character from diverse bourbon casks over twelve months of changing Chicago seasons.
