The story behind it
Founded in 1902 by Nicola Catena, an Italian immigrant, the Catena Zapata winery is celebrated for pioneering the modern resurrection of Malbec and high-altitude winemaking in Argentina. Today, third-generation winemaker Nicolás Catena and his daughter Laura continue to push the boundaries of quality in the Andean foothills.
The Catena family has conducted extensive research into high-altitude viticulture in Mendoza, developing unique vineyard sites that capture optimal sunlight and cool night temperatures. This Chardonnay is sourced from select family estate vineyards, blending different altitudes to achieve both ripe fruit characteristics and high natural acidity.
