Founded in 1987 by Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr., the brand was created to revive an old family high-rye whiskey recipe. Inspired by his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, who made a legendary high-rye whiskey in the mid-1800s, Tom Bulleit left a successful law career to bring this historic style back to life.
This straight rye whiskey is crafted from a unique mash bill of ninety-five percent rye and five percent malted barley. It is distilled and aged in charred American white oak barrels at the historic Bulleit distillery.
