The brand was inspired by British Royal Air Force Commander Montgomery Collins, who created his own gin in the Black Forest during the late 1940s. Decades later, Alexander Stein rediscovered the recipe and founded the Black Forest Distillers to revive this legendary, botanical-rich spirit.
Handcrafted in Germany's Black Forest, Monkey 47 is distilled in a custom-built copper still using local spring water and 47 hand-picked ingredients. The complex recipe includes cranberries, spruce shoots, and exotic Asian botanicals, bridging classic European gin traditions with native forest ingredients.
