The Gosling family's spirits legacy began in 1806 when James Gosling, aboard the ship Mercury, arrived in Bermuda and opened a shop in St. George's. By 1860, after years of experimenting with rum blends, the family introduced 'Old Rum,' which eventually became known as Black Seal because it was sold in bottles sealed with black sealing wax.
Deeply tied to Bermuda history, this legendary rum is produced using a proprietary blend of pot-still and column-still rums aged in charred American oak casks. The resulting spirit is charcoal filtered for optimal smoothness before bottling on the island.
