Ron Zacapa was created in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the town of Zacapa in eastern Guatemala. Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, one of the few female master blenders in the spirits industry, artfully guides the maturation process to achieve its signature rich flavor profile.
This rum is aged in the 'House Above the Clouds' at an altitude of 2,300 meters, where the cool mountain air slows the aging process to develop deep complexity. The liquid is crafted using a Solera system that blends rums aged between 6 and 23 years in re-charred American oak, Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez casks.
