Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, Speyburn was built in the heart of Speyside to utilize the exceptionally pure waters of the Granty Burn. Over a century later, the distillery remains committed to traditional distilling methods, utilizing original drum maltings and wooden washbacks to preserve its classic highland style.
Speyburn Distillery was designed by the famous distillery architect Charles Doig and began distillation on Christmas night in 1897. It is uniquely situated in a steep, wooded glen utilizing water from the Granty Burn, an untamed tributary of the River Spey.
