Lagavulin was officially founded in 1816 on the shores of Islay, Scotland. Historically known for producing one of the most robust, smoky, and complex whiskies in the world, the distillery remains an iconic pillar of Islay's southern coast.

Located on the south coast of Islay, the Lagavulin Distillery was officially established in 1816 by John Johnston. The distillery is famous for its slow distillation in pear-shaped stills and its long sixteen-year maturation process in oak casks.
